Membership Services Morning Greeter

We are hiring for the Membership Services Morning Greeter position! We’re looking for a warm, engaging, early riser to join our team in membership services. We are accepting applications for staffers to greet, welcome and engage Y members from 4 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Ideal candidates for the position will have a passion for connecting diverse populations and making everyone feel welcome and at home within the walls of the Y. REACH & RISE MENTORING PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Full Time Exempt
Pay Grade: $35,000 – $40,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the YMCA Reach & Rise National Directors, and the Senior Program Director is responsible for oversight and ongoing development and implementation of the YMCA’s National Reach & Rise Mentoring Program at a YMCA association.  Reach & Rise Mentoring Director is a Mental Health Professionals who will establish the Reach & Rise Program Model by recruiting, training, and matching volunteers, as well as responsible for managing risk. They ensure uniformity of training curriculum, data collection, outcome objectives, and ongoing clinical support. Reach & Rise Mentoring Director also organize planned “mentee to work days” and community service days.

 

The Reach & Rise Mentoring Program Director serves as the clinical mind for the respective association and is supervised by their respective Supervisor who assists with messaging, marketing, and brokering linkages to all available YMCA resources (e.g., facilities, human resources, risk management, volunteers, etc.).  The Reach & Rise Mentoring Program Director will travel to Y USA in Chicago, IL, and other designated locations to attend trainings.

This position is concerned with the delivery and coordination of services in the community. To this end, the Reach & Rise Mentoring Program Director must have the interpersonal skills to interact with volunteers, youth, and the community. The Reach & Rise Mentoring Director effectively manages and ensures compliance with all aspects of the grant and the partnership agreement with the Y USA. Contract and budget management, organization and systems management, and program development skills required. The Reach & Rise Mentoring Program Director ensures that all goals and objectives are met for the program in their association and must have the ability to clearly document outcomes and data per program protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  2. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
  3. Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
  4. Demonstrate the Character Counts values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
  5. Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas of mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.

This position requires experience working with the target population plus a master’s degree in social work or counseling. The incumbent must possess a variety of skills to include written and oral communication and the ability to effectively deliver services through a variety of systems.

Plus:

  • Experience implementing and delivering a program by following specific program model, curriculum and guidelines
  • Completion of all required paperwork per the partnership agreement and as specified by the OJJDP grant requirements
  • Provide accurate, timely completion and submission of all mentor/mentee – related records and documents
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and implement the mentee growth plans, utilizing various intervention methods and techniques
  • Comply with the legal standards for mandated reporting
  • Work with all YMCA partners to ensure positive and consistent relationship
  • As needed, attend regular meetings with volunteers, families, and with staff from schools and/or community based organizations
  • Provide input as to how the Reach & Rise Mentoring Program can better reflect the cultural diversity of the children and families in the respective YMCA regions.
  • Attend all required training as required by the YMCA of the USA
  • Actively participates in YMCA events and activities and adheres to the YMCA Core Values
  • Develop an approved plan for professional development.
  • Other duties as specified by the Reach & Rise National Director, and Senior Program Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling

Availability: Some evenings and weekends, in addition to approved office hours

Swim Instructor

Part Time Hourly
Pay Grade: $7.25-$8.50

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning and conducting swim lessons according to YMCA and Red Cross guidelines and to help people learn to be safe when they are in, on or around water. To always ensure the safety of class participants while teaching and to promote the four core values of the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Represent the YMCA’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  1. Be familiar with course materials and know how to use them effectively.
  2. Create a non-threatening environment encouraging participants to meet course objectives.
  3. Must be cheerful, energetic, and emotionally present and must be a good listener and communicator.
  4. Cover all material required in a course
  5. Ensure that participants meet course completion requirements and receive completion certificate.
  6. Submit completed course reports to Aquatic Coordinator.
  7. Attend regular trainings as assigned by Aquatic Coordinator

Must maintain an excellent attendance record.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training and First Aid
  2. American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent
  3. WSI or YSI Certification
  4. Knowledge of child development
  5. Knowledge of infant and preschool aquatic theory and practice.
  6. Knowledge of progressive aquatic theory and practice.
  7. Knowledge of lesson planning, administrative and program operations.

Knowledge of learning theory, course design and customizing to adults, persons with disabilities and helping participants meet their individual goals and objectives.

Housekeeping

Part Time: 20-28 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide a positive, high energy and safe environment within the YMCA facility by being responsible for laundry, mopping and vacuuming, bathroom maintenance and janitorial duties under the guidance of the Facilities Director. Housekeeping staff with keeping all areas of the branch clean, safe and well maintained.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.
  2. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
  3. Provide Excellent customer Service
  4. Maintenance of fitness floor and studios
  5. Bathroom maintenance and janitorial duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  2. Must have successful experience in routine maintenance, janitorial machinery, and application and safe handling of chemicals.
  3. HS Diploma
  4. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

Early Learning Center staff

Our team is growing, and we are looking for superstars to impact the lives of kids at the Y! We are accepting applications for several part-time positions at the YMCA Child Care Development Center including an afternoon position in the infant room and a split shift working with our School Aged group from 6 to 9 a.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m.
We are looking for people with a passion for educating youth, and a drive to make a difference. Applicants must have their high school diploma/GED and be able to complete all required training. Child Care experience or pursuing a degree in a child related field is preferred, but not required, for all positions.

YMCA Early Learning CENTER: We are hiring for two positions at the YMCA Child Care Development Center, these positions will be teachers’ assistants in our classrooms; both positions will be in the afternoon, one in our Infant Classroom (must be 21) and one in our Pre-School Classroom.  Applicants must have their high school diploma/GED and be able to complete all required training.  Child Care experience or pursuing a degree in a child related field is preferred.  Apply at the YMCA Child Care Development Center at 701 St Joseph Dr, Kokomo.

Swim instructors and lifeguards

The YMCA is looking for experienced swim instructors and lifeguards to join the family at the Y. Help the youth of today learn to be healthy while they increase their self-esteem and learn life skills such as goal setting and determination.
Childhood development and swimming progression knowledge is needed for instructors, and lifeguards must have a current lifeguard certification.
