AMERICAN RED CROSS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR COURSE (WSI)
May 24 through 29
Weeknights 4:00-9:00 PM
Saturday 9:00-1:00 PM

This course trains instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue course, six levels of the Learn to Swim and Parent and Child Aquatics.  Candidates must be 16, Possess a Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) certificate and successfully complete the pre-course session

LIFEGUARDING REVIEW COURSE

For those whose certifications have expired in the past year or are about to expire. Lifeguarding and First Aid certificates are valid for 3 years.  CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer are valid for 1 year for Lifeguards.

Longfellow’s WHALE Tales



A great way to teach school-age children about water safety and drowning prevention. Exciting classroom-based activities cover 11 topics, including three new lessons on sun safety, water safety around the home and water safety in different environments, such as waterparks, lakes and rivers.

      For Children in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.

Aquatic Fitness/exercise classes

All aerobic programs listed below are listed alphabetically.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
All classes are available to minor dependents (12+ years) when accompanied by adult.  Class participants may buy an Aqua-Fitness Pass for $50 and then attend any or all Water Fitness classes for one month.

This is a moderate intensity workout done mostly in the shallow end of the pool. The instructors incorporate 30 minutes of aerobics with strength training, stretching and abdominal exercises. 

This class is for those who want to work hard and to be challenged (not for the casual exerciser). A ten minute warm up then 45 minutes of fast paced exercise boot camp style, intervals of cardio and muscle building exercises. Class ends with Tai chi, Yoga, or Ai Chi.

Mainly shallow water class is intended for active individuals and is intended to be high intensity. We will focus on cardio and strength training using a variety of techniques and equipment. Come with an intention to feel the power of the water.

This class is done in the deep end of the pool with a floatation device for absolutely no impact. This class is recommended for those confident to swim to the side unassisted.  

This program is designed for active individuals looking to incorporate lap swimming as part of his/her exercise program. participants should have skills and knowledge of front and back crawl. A variety of training techniques will be used in the workouts to meet specific fitness and training goals.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VALUE ADDED SIX -WEEK CLASS

This program is designed for people of any age living with arthritis, rheumatic diseases, or related conditions. The goal is to improve muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.

W.A.V.E.S. (Water Aerobics Via Energized Seniors)  This is a low impact (won't hurt joints), high energy (aerobic) class for those over 55 years .  This program is open to non-members for $5 per visit fee. Swimming skills are not required.

Beginner W.A.V.E.S.   This class is designed for those beginning an exercise program. Individuals will improve balance, range of motion and strength.

                                  Program to Resume in the Fall 2010

A fun new way to work out and have fun with your child (6mo to 3 yrs). We lift and sway, swirl and sing. It's 30 minutes of aerobic exercise followed by 15 minutes of playtime together. Registration is required for this Value Added six- week class.  Class will be offered in Spring 2010.
