This campaign is a critical component of our YMCA and our YMCAs ability to fully deliver on our mission. The final two words of our mission statement read, "for all". That means that regardless of an individuals or a families ability to pay for our services, we will do our very best to provide those services to all. It is through this campaign that we are able to do so. Each year we serve hundreds of people with the funds donated to the YMCA for this purpose. Below is our 2006 Sponsorship Report. Enjoy!
Financial
assistance is based on ability to pay.
It is the policy of the Kokomo YMCA that no person be denied
membership or program participation by reason of inability to pay fees.
Funds made available for financial assistance are provided through
the United Way and the YMCA’s annual Partner with Youth Campaign. The
mission of the YMCA of Kokomo, Indiana is to put Christian principles into
practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for
all. 2007
SPONSORSHIP REPORT YMCA staff tracked
the following individual sponsorship information in 2007.
This report covers individual subsidies only.
This report does not include youth program subsidies received from
our United Way. Memberships In 2007 368 memberships were given to 1,036 individuals. The practice of our YMCA is to encourage family memberships, not just youth memberships, thus encouraging the family to grow together. It is also our practice not to turn anyone away from our YMCA, young or old, because of financial reasons. The memberships
that were sponsored were:
This equals
approximately 25.3% of our total membership income.
Involved in these youth, adult and family memberships were 550 children, ages 1 -17 and
486 adults. Programs We had an
additional 252 children in YMCA programs that we waived $28,039 in program
fees so these children could participate in YMCA childcare, youth sports,
and aquatic programs. Summary Approximately $198,500 was waived to help 1,288 people use our YMCA, who could not afford the membership or program fees. This figure represents 11.7% of our total operating budget. It also does not include, as stated above, the subsidy of many of our youth programs with United Way funds. Because of United Way funds, we are able to make our program fees more affordable to the entire community.
